An article on the genomic and biological characteristics of the unique giant (jumbo) phage APK-162

The staff of the Laboratory of Genetics and Breeding of Microorganisms of the Federal State Budgetary Budgetary Institution ARRIAM under the leadership of Rumyantseva M.L. published in the journal, the International Journal of Molecular Sciences phage AP-p-p-162 (jumbo) an article on the genomic and biological characteristics of a unique giant, nitrogen-fixing nodule bacteria of the genus Sinorhizobium isolated from the soils of the mountainous region of Dagestan. Giant or jumbo phages are characterized by record sizes of both the viral particle and the genome. The AP-J-162 model has a capacity of 471.5 thousand hp. It is a dual-threaded DNK encoding 711 thousandhp. and 41 types of tRNAs. Phage AP-p-p-162 characteristics genomic and biological properties make it a unique model for studying phage-microbial interactions. The research was carried out within the framework of the Russian Science Foundation 24-26-00274 project.
