The management of the St. Petersburg Branch of the OFR is deeply saddened to announce that on May 20, 2025, after a serious and prolonged illness, Olga Vladimirovna Voitsekhovskaya, head of the Laboratory of Molecular and Ecological Physiology at the V.L. Komarov Botanical Institute, Candidate of Biological Sciences, passed away. Olga Vladimirovna Voitsekhovskaya, who was not only a wonderful scientist, an excellent colleague, but also a brilliant woman.
Our department and the national plant physiology have suffered an irreparable loss. Olga Vladimirovna Wojciechowska, a graduate of the Department of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry at the Faculty of Biology and Soil at St. Petersburg State University, completed postgraduate studies and brilliantly defended her dissertation at the University of Göttingen (Germany), after which she returned to the Botanical Institute to generously share her knowledge with colleagues. Since 2015 Olga Vladimirovna headed one of the few laboratories of plant physiology in our city. During this time, she managed to gather an enthusiastic team of students, postgraduates and young scientists around her, to develop in them a deep interest in our science. Three of them became candidates of sciences in the specialty "Plant physiology and biochemistry" under the guidance of Olga Vladimirovna.
Her charisma and excellent knowledge of foreign languages allowed her to establish and maintain close ties with foreign colleagues for many years, publish a series of articles in prestigious scientific journals, and in 2016 Olga Vladimirovna organized the international conference “Plant Signaling and Behavior” in our city, which was a great success.
We are convinced that the bright memory of Olga Vladimirovna Voitsekhovskaya will always live in the hearts of the members of our department. We believe that Olga Vladimirovna's students will multiply her achievements in plant physiology and biochemistry!
