He was born into the family of an employee.
He graduated from the Leningrad School of Economics (1924).
In 1923-1930 he worked there: technician, junior assistant, assistant, researcher, head of the experimental field.
In 1930-1952, he was a senior researcher, a scientific specialist, head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Mechanization, head of the fertilizer laboratory, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Fertilizers, Agrotechnics and Soil Science (1930-1952).
Since 1952, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology.
At the same time as working at the Research Institute, he conducted teaching activities:
Associate Professor of Agriculture and Agrochemistry and Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering of the Institute for Pest Control in Agriculture (1931-1934);
Associate Professor of Agriculture and Agrochemistry (1934-1935), Head of the Department of Agrochemistry, Professor (1941-1947) of the Leningrad Agricultural Institute;
Head of the Department of Agronomy of the All-Russian Communist Agricultural University (1935-1937);
Head of the Department, Professor of the Leningrad Fruit and Vegetable Institute (1937-1941);
Head of the Department of Agrochemistry, Professor at Leningrad State University (1948-1958).
Academician VASKHNIL (1948). Author of scientific papers in the field of agrochemistry and agricultural microbiology.
In 1951-1954, he was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR.
