In 2004, he graduated with honors from St. Petersburg State University with a degree in Biology. In 2008, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences in the specialty "Genetics".
He began his professional career as a microbiologist engineer at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Microbiology (ARRIAM) in 2002. After defending his dissertation, he worked at the same institute as M.Sc., n.s., S.sc., V.sc. From 2014 to the present, he heads the Laboratory of Genetics of plant-microbial interactions at VNIISHM.
Laureate of the L. Euler Prize of the Government of St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences for Young Scientists (2011)
Author of more than 70 articles in journals indexed in international citation databases (including Plant Cell, Plant Physiology, Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, Journal of Experimental Botany, Frontiers in Plant Science)
Member of the editorial Board of the journal "Ecological Genetics"
Research interests: plant-microbial systems, mutually beneficial symbioses, symbiotic nitrogen fixation, legumes, genetics, breeding
