Vladimir Zhukov, Leading Researcher, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Genetics of Plant-Microbial Interactions, FSBSI ARRIAM, delivered a plenary lecture on “Genetic and Metabolic Integration in Legume-Rhizobial Symbiosis” at the School of Systems Biology (Novosibirsk, November 4-8, 2024). The lecture reviewed the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and functioning of legume-rysobial symbiosis, including the mechanisms determining its high specificity and efficiency of metabolite exchange (fixed nitrogen on the bacterial side and photosynthates on the plant side). Evolutionary and ecological aspects of symbiosis as a biological phenomenon were also discussed.
