Important announcements have been made about holding competitions for prizes for outstanding scientific and scientific-technical achievements and about a new regional competition of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg to support fundamental and exploratory scientific research.

On July 31, a meeting of the Joint Council on Agrobiotechnology and Food Safety was held at the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution VNIISHM with the participation of members of the team of the St. Petersburg Scientific Foundation and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences:

The following important announcements were made during the meeting:

1. The St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences holds a competition for prizes for outstanding scientific and technical achievements:

• The N. I. Vavilov Prize for outstanding scientific and technical achievements in the field of agricultural sciences and food security.

The amount of each award is one hundred thousand rubles.

The deadline for accepting applicants' documents: from 9:00 a.m. (Moscow time) on July 18, 2024 to 24:00 a.m. (Moscow time) on August 18, 2024 (inclusive).

2. The St. Petersburg Scientific Foundation (SPBNF) announces the holding of a regional RNF competition to support basic scientific research and exploratory scientific research by small individual scientific groups (MONG, up to 4 people, 2 years, up to 1.5 million rubles per year) and individual scientific groups (ONG, up to 10 people, 3 years, up to 7 million rubles per year).

In the pilot mode, R&D support will be provided within the framework of regional RNF (ONG) competitions with the involvement of a qualified customer (industrial partner). There are no special requirements for a qualified customer, but it is desirable that it be localized in St. Petersburg. R&D financing scheme: RNF + SPBNF + qualified customer. The share of financing from a qualified customer must be at least half of the amount requested from the RNF and SPBNF funds.
