The Governor of St. Petersburg announced this at a meeting with members of the Council of Rectors of Universities of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. At the event, the implementation of major urban projects and plans to support science and education, which allow St. Petersburg to strengthen its status as a leader in scientific and technological development, were also discussed by educational institutions.

Thus, the participants of the meeting noted that high results in the development of the city and higher education were achieved with the support of the federal center – St. Petersburg universities have good indicators of participation in their projects. Ten universities are participating in the Priority 2030 program. Of the fifty advanced engineering schools supported by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, six have been opened on the basis of St. Petersburg universities. St. Petersburg State University, the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Microbiology and the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after N. I. Vavilov are part of the consortium of the world-class Scientific Center "Agrotechnologies of the Future".

St. Petersburg confidently holds positions in the top three regions of the national ranking of scientific and technological development. The city will support initiatives both in the field of personnel training and in the development and implementation of new technologies. Already, the amount of subsidies, awards and scholarships from the Government of St. Petersburg to students, postgraduates, young and active scientists for the development of scientific and educational activities has been doubled on average," Alexander Beglov stressed.
