The scientific director of the Institute, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Igor Anatolyevich Tikhonovich and the director of the Institute Viktor Evgenievich Tsyganov told about the activities of the Institute, the holder of the oldest collection of microorganisms: a network bioresource collection in the field of genetic technologies for agriculture, discussed the problems and prospects for the development of Russian science in the field of agricultural microbiology.

During the tour, Vera Igorevna Safronova, Deputy Director for Scientific Work, curator of the collection, showed the work of a unique cryopreservation facility, and Evgeny Evgenievich Andronov, head of the Laboratory for Microbiological Monitoring and Bioremediation of Soils, spoke about the activities of the Center for Collective Use and metagenomic studies of Russian soils conducted in it and further prospects for the development of research in this area.
